Shareholder Commitment

All shareholders are asked to commit to this statement:
I understand that by becoming a shareholder of the Community Supported Agriculture initiative, I will share both the rewards and the risks of the growing season along with the shareholders and the growers. I recognize that there is no guarantee of the exact amount I will receive each week. I agree to comply with all safety measures posted in the distribution area while on the property and any additional policies, rules or regulations adopted by the farm. It is my responsibility to pick up my share within the scheduled pickup hours. If my share is not picked up, I understand that it will be donated to a local food pantry or other charitable organization.

Partnership Shares

For low-income families we will offer a limited number of partnership shares in which the participating families pay a lower share price in exchange for additional volunteer hours. For more information about this option contact Joe Schalasky at (812) 963-7690.

Discount for Volunteers

All shareholders who contribute a minimum of six (6) hours of volunteer time in 2010 will be eligible for a discount on next season’s share price. Volunteering provides a wonderful opportunity for you and your family members to experience the benefits of sustainable agriculture. There are many ways to contribute your time and talent.

Volunteer Opportunities

Shareholder families are given the option to participate in the farm through a variety of volunteer opportunities. Spending time on the farm is a valuable way of learning not only about how healthy food is grown, but also how the CSA movement is furthering the cause of sustainable agriculture. Many of the areas of volunteer service do not require fieldwork or physical labor. Examples of volunteer opportunities include:

- Greeting Shareholders on Distribution Day
- Washing and Sorting Vegetables
- Greenhouse Work
- Website Assistance
- Planting and Harvesting
- Promoting Educational Opportunities
- Mulching
- Promoting Public Awareness
- Cultivating and Weeding
- Picnic Planning
- Flower and Herb Care
- Serve on the Core Group
