A Message From the Farm...
Greetings!
Preparations are underway for the 2012 growing season at Seton Harvest and our Shareholder membership list is rapidly growing.
Community Supported Agriculture brings together community members, a farmer and agricultural land in a relationship of mutual support based on an annual commitment to one another. As a fundamental concept, both the farmer and the consumers share in the risks and benefits of farming. Seton Harvest experienced an abundant year during 2011 as the farm staff harvested over 39,000 pounds of healthy vegetables and herbs. Throughout the twenty-six week growing season (mid-May through mid-November), our shareholders came to the farm one day each week to pick up their weekly share of the harvest. Response to Seton Harvest from Evansville and the surrounding communities has exceeded our expectations. We have a limited number of shareholder openings remaining and are providing you with this opportunity to join us for the 2012 growing season.
If you are interested in becoming a shareholder, we encourage you to download the 2012 Shareholder Application. Complete the Application Form and return it with your deposit or full payment to: Seton Harvest, 9400 New Harmony Rd., Evansville, IN 47720. Your application must be received by Febuary 15, 2012, in order to secure your membership.
We look forward to having you join Seton Harvest for 2012 and enjoy the many benefits of Community Supported Agriculture. If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at (812) 963-7693.

About Us...
Seton Harvest is a Community Supported Agriculture Project sponsored by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent DePaul, a non-for-profit religious organization committed to promoting sustainable agriculture. Our first growing season began in the Spring of 2006. We started with 64 shareholder families and expanded to 146 in 2009. The farm produces some 50+ different vegetables, flowers and herbs. Our ten acre farm site includes a barn, two greenhouses and is fully irrigated. Seton Harvest has proved to be a successful ecological justice initiative and has received much support from the local community.

>> Absolutely no use of synthetic chemical insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, or fertilizers on our crops or fields. >> Minimal and careful use of even organically approved soil amendments and sprays. >> Care for our soil, water and air quality with crop rotations, cover crops, protective buffer strips and ecologically sustainable farming practices. >> No use of chemically treated or Genetically Modified seeds. >> Sanitary post-harvest practices including proper transport, storage and the use of only potable water for the washing of produce. >> A commitment to strive in every way to pass on the land and surrounding environment in an even better condition than it was passed on to us.

Seton Harvest Garden Party
First Time Event = Success!!
Seton Harvest, a community supported agriculture initiative sponsored by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, hosted a Garden Party on Saturday, June 4, 2011. The Garden Party took place at the Evansville Downtown Old National Bank Atrium decorated with white lights, natural centerpieces and trimmings, specialty drinks (teas, coffees and wines), sit down dinner, soft music, wine, silent auction, and fun at the Photoville Photobooth
All proceeds from the Garden Party are going directly toward the farm’s food shares for the poor in the form of fresh produce to the pantry systems, food bank, and homeless shelters - this produce for families living in poverty will weigh in at over 10,000 pounds by the end of the current growing season!! Seton Harvest needs funds to continue providing fresh produce to these agencies feeding the poor in Evansville and the surrounding area.
For further information on Seton Harvest or the farm's outreach to the poor, please call Amber Schiff at (812) 963-7693 today!
